We are seeking a creative, motivated individual to participate in electrophysiological (patch clamp on brain slices and/or isolated neurons) studies of ion channels, with primary focus on neuronal mechanism of acupuncture treatment of alcohol-induced changes in neuronal function. Research projects are aimed at understanding pharmacological modification of channel behavior, channel regulation by signal transduction pathways, and cellular mechanisms related to acupuncture and alcoholism. Candidates should have an interest in alcohol and drug abuse research, and academic/research training in relevant areas such as: cellular and membrane physiology, signal transduction, neuroscience. Experience in electrophysiology is required. The candidate will receive comprehensive training in electrophysiology, pharmacology, cell dissociation and brain slice as needed, along with practical skills such as data acquisition/analysis, graphics, scientific writing, and grant preparation.
